The students acquire the systematic background and the practical skills that are necessary to use computers efficiently in the dimensioning and detailing of civil engineering structures. They become acquainted with the classification of structural components and connections, as well as the computer-based tools for their design. The problems encountered in the implementation of codes and regulations on the computer are presented. The interfaces between the design, analysis, dimensioning, detailing and manufacture of structures as well as the corresponding functionality in computer networks are introduced.
